Our History
Özikizler takes its name from the twin sons of master pastry chef Mehmet Durmaz, Hasan and Hüseyin.
The business humbly began in Urfa’s Birecik district as a wee 50 square metre shop lined with no more than a few tables.
In 2009, they opened up their first franchise in the neighbouring city of Gaziantep—this time with the third brother,
Zülfikar, at the helm. In 2014 and 2016, the troop of four had opened up yet another two franchises in the same city:
reaching a total of four.
However, they did not stop there. By 2017, the Özikizler Künefe brand had reached Istanbul’s Beyent district; by 2018, Ankara;
and by 2019, Istanbul’s Acıbadem district… all for a grand total of nine franchises.
With the aim of expanding its number of franchises, Özikizler Künefe hopes by 2020 to make its presence better known not only
throughout Turkey, but also worldwide, namely across the Middle East and Europe.
